Biodanza is good for the body, good for the soul and good for the mind. It’s all round benefits have been proven over and over again both scientifically and empirically . It truly can change people’s lives for the better. It can improve confidence, self esteem, capacity for enjoyment and the capacity to give and receive love in its purest form.
It doesn’t matter if you can’t dance, it doesn’t matter if you think you don’t have a sense of rhythm, it doesn’t matter if you can’t move much, you can move at your own pace and at your own level. Biodanza is about the enjoyment of movement and dance, it’s about self-expression, authenticity, connection with yourself and connection with others in a fun but meaningful way.
Wear what you feel comfortable in. It is usually danced in bare feet but non slippery socks or soft indoor shoes will be ok. You might need to bring a bottle of water with you.
I believe that Rolando Toro who created this system was a genius. He was nominated for a Nobel Peace prize for this work.
Biodanza brings everything I love into one thing. I love, people, teaching, spirituality, music, dancing and therapy. I love to see people being happy and being authentic (which Biodanza encourages) and to think that I can in some way help them to achieve this happier state.
I was a teacher for many years and have been a counselling psychologist for much longer, I had the privilege to practice and then co-author a book on ‘Teaching Meditation to Children’. I am a Reikki Master and have loved music and dancing all my life.
I trained to teach Biodanza for four years and have trained further to be a didactic teacher (able to train others to become teachers ). Running Biodanza groups for over six years I have delighted in presenting this wonderful system at festivals and other events.
I have also worked with Brain injury patients and am currently working with people with different challenges, as well as my usual more general groups. Any profit goes to charity.
